OCTOBER 2026 UPDATES FROM THE SECRETARY RICHARD PARKER

Dear All,

Still unseasonably warm (things will change now I have said this!). I thoroughly enjoyed Stuart’s ride to Bradwell on Sea marina, even if we had a little wait to be served and that left it too late for the second leg to Norton Heath. I waved at it on my way home.

You may have heard that there have been a couple of serious accidents on club runs this year. (not our section). I have put my hand up to take part in an on-line 'share and compare' session that will be run by Head Office. I’ll feed back to the section once this has taken place sometime in October.

Committee Post

I STILL haven’t heard of any volunteers yet so I am reminding you again that John Beckinsale stands down as the club treasurer at the end of the year. He is happy to talk through the role with you if interested. Please do consider a role on the committee. P.S. we cannot operate without a Treasurer.

Club night

14th October; The Purleigh Bell, The Street, Purleigh, CM3 6QJ (What3words; enjoys.special.divisions).

John and Anne will be doing their annual quiz night, always an enjoyable evening. Sharpen your pencil and have your brain in good fettle.

Upcoming rides:

18th October is still a T.B.A. If anyone fancies leading a ride for this or another date?

21st October; Steve Back will lead a ride; Provisional; details may change (although I think it will only the weather that may intervene|).

Meet at Writtle green, 9 for 9:30am start (What3Words jolly.jukebox.total ) , coffee just the other side of Abridge at the Blue Rooms cafe, Ongar Road, RM4 1AA (What3words: pools.dairy.most) & lunch at the Green Man, Toot Hill, CM5 9SD (What3words; deck.agent.model). After that it is every man for himself probably going home via the A414 towards Chelmsford.

Upcoming Shows

A few big ones around the country for those that like to travel:

The Classic Motorcycle Mechanics Show sponsored by Carole Nash. 10-11 October 2026. Staffordshire Showground

The National Motorcycle Museum Live. Saturday 24 & Sunday 25 October 2026. Free admission to the museum.

For those that follow modern bikes as well; Motorcycle Live, N.E.C. 21 - 29 November 2026.

And finally

I would not normally pass on emails such as this, but thought it might be useful:

“Hi,

Is a missing, broken or discontinued part holding up a vintage motorcycle or scooter restoration? I run PrintIt3D, offering 3D printing, 3D scanning and CAD design. I can help develop replacements for hard-to-source parts, such as trim clips, badges, cosmetic covers and other small fittings. If you have an original part that’s damaged or worn, I can assess whether it can be scanned, recreated or adapted. I can also work from measurements, sketches or an idea to develop a custom solution. Whether it’s a classic British motorcycle, a vintage Vespa or a Lambretta, I’d be happy to look at what you need. From a single replacement to a small batch for your workshop or club members, I can assess the design and material options for its intended use. Have a part or restoration project in mind? Reply with a photo, sketch or brief description, and I’ll let you know what’s possible and provide a quote.

Best regards, PrintIt3D www.printit3d.net “

As in my last email a gentleman from Upminster is having o sort out his father’s estate, amongst which are books and some motorbikes. Details on the website; https://essex.vmcc.net/Free-Books (The Honda books are already spoken for). I can pass on your phone number if you wish to contact him regarding the bikes, be aware he is in the middle of moving so has much on his mind.

I think that is all for now

Best wishes

Richard Parker
