2026 AGM

October 14, 2026

The 2026 AGM (Sunday 18 October) confirmed another successful year for the Section with regular, healthy attendance at runs and social events. The Section is in a good position financially with income from the past year continuing the trend of growth and stability for the Section's resources.

Two long serving, very effective committee members retired from committee duties at the AGM. Roger Hore and Kelvin Tonkin have both served the section, in various capacities, for many years and a huge vote of thanks for their contribution is due to both of them. Their retirement leaves some very big shoes to fill, although both will continue to help wherever possible.

The Committee is now at full strength for the first time in many years, full details of current Committee members are on the COMMITTEE page of this site.

The 2027 Calendar of Events was approved at the AGM and included on the EVENTS page of this site.

The Wray run will be held again this year, on Saturday 16th May.

As last year, it will be based at Bridge House Farm, with it's excellent facilities. This year there will be a choice of three routes. The longest, 61 miles, will be the same as last year, and take in Ingleton, passing Ribblehead viaduct to Hawes and returning through stunning scenery via Sedbergh and the bikers meet spot at Devil's Bridge, Kirkby Lonsdale. There will be two short routes of around 22 miles, allowing riders to take morning and afternoon rides with a lunch and social break at Bridge House Farm. This year the runs will be open to motorcycles and three wheelers up to 1970. "Tulip diagram" route sheets will be available, together with gpx files for use with compatible sat-nav devices. The Levis Cup Road Trial, our premier event. The weather was a little annoying but even so it was a great day. Lots of smiling faces and people saying how much they enjoyed the day and the route. Special thanks to our organisers, the Sumner family, and our helpers who came from our section and Worcestershire section. It would be impossible to run without them.

Brian Robinson Funeral details

Hello again all. For those who would like to ride along behind dad’s hearse on Monday the 8th, the hearse will be passing Fendick’s fisheries at about 10:40-10.45am.

I thought it might be easier for people to tag on behind from there. I’m waiting to hear whether they’d pull in or whether it’ll be a case of waiting to see it and catching up if that’s ok?
The wake will be back there afterwards with a buffet for anyone who would like to join us in a toast to dad.

News May 2026

Sad to report that dad Brian Robinson passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday night. Both James Robinson and I were with him.

He’d not been able to attend many events or club nights since his cancer diagnosis four or five years ago restricted his mobility, but he kept a keen eye on events via this page.

I’ll post funeral details once known.

Malcolm Rolph

Sad news indeed, a big loss to the Section, he will be missed greatly.

Sincere Condolences to James, Simon and Anne in their loss.

Simon Robinson

Dad, Brian Robinson’s funeral will be at 11:30 on Monday 8th June at Mintlyn crematorium in King’s Lynn, followed by a gathering to raise a glass/cup of tea to him at Fendick’s Fisheries at lunchtime after.

VMCC Website - Section Officers new services

April 28, 2026

The VMCC is pleased to announce the launch of its long awaited, revamped and much improved website. For most of the membership there should be little if any change to the content but you will notice a new modern look and feel to the site. The major difference you will notice is that your old method of accessing the Members Area will no longer work. As with all things on the internet these days additional security is unavoidable. To try and minimise the impact, we have kept the membership number as your log on id, however, you will now be required to create a new, more secure password of your own choice. When you try to log on you will need to request a Password Reset and provide an email address that matches the one in the membership database. This password needs to be at least 8 characters long and must not contain part of your name or email. Please check your spam folder if you do not see the email within a few minutes.

If you do not have an email address of your own then have someone else email hq@vmcc.net or myself steve@vmcc.net and we can manually create one for you. We can manually set a password for you but you must tell us what password you want that you can remember. As a last resort you can call the office and request Maddie create one for you, however, please bear in mind the staff are always very busy.

We hope you like the new site, please let us know of any problems you encounter, missing information, broken links etc.

Most of the changes are in the areas used by section officers for maintaining section details, events etc.

If you are listed as an officer of a section your log in should now allow you to access the Admin area of the website for your section(s). Click on the Wagtail symbol in the bottom right of the screen, select the Go to the Wagtail Admin option. You will now see a number of options on the left hand menu. The two of interest at the moment are Journal Submission (Section notes) and Snippets. Under Snippets you will see options to edit Events, News and Sections.

Events

Use this option to add, edit or select Events organised by your section. If editing or deleting find the event and select it, enter any changes then press the Save Draft. To delete an event completely click on the three dots (…) to the right of the title at the top. You can delete the event here. You can also copy an event if it is a regular meet.

To add a new event use the + Add Event in the title bar to the right of Events. Complete all the mandatory fields (marked with *) and anything else you feel relevant or appropriate.

Please note that the start and end locations of the event can now be displayed immediately on the map. If it does not automatically find the location based on the address given try entering the same address into Google Maps and then copying the co-ordinates into the Geolocation field, this should then locate on the map. Please note that due to the way the map works NONE of the existing events will automatically be shown on the map, they will ALL need to be edited to appear correctly. New events should appear once a valid location is entered. If the start is not an address such as a lay by or car park, you can move the pin on the map to be exactly where you want it. Over time as new events are added the map will be more useful or you can work through your events and set the location.

Sections

Operationally this works as above. Once sections have been selected you should see your own section listed, select it and edit as necessary. The location of the regular meeting place should be automatically displayed on the map. If not use Google Maps to find the location and past the co-ordinates into the Geolocation field or else move the pin to exactly where you want it.

There is a section called Section Officer Log, here you can add and edit officers of your section. You cannot delete an officer, if they have stepped down, simply add the date they did so and they will no longer receive bulletins etc. It is intended that over time we keep a record of all officers both past and present. If you need to add more members to have admin rights, simply find them and add as necessary, similarly you can remove people from having admin rights.

News

Use this facility to post news to the main site such as event changes (dates, times etc) or to announce new events to which all members are invited.

Journal submission

This replaces the Section Notes facility to send section notes to the journal and have them displayed on the web site. Complete the form with your details and section notes. If required upload and add a new image. This information will then be posted on the website and also in the next journal.

Use the Help section for assistance on all the above functions.

Any issues email me.

For all the latest news go to the VMCC main website https://vmcc.net.

Or a really good read of past issues of the Journal for members of the Vintage Motor Cycle Club. `The Vintage & Classic Motor Cycle'

(These can be accessed online from the VMCC Website)

Entry forms are now available for the annual `Banbury Run', Sunday 7th June 2026

The Founders Relay Rally will not go ahead this year. In it's place, will be a Baton Relay Rally in celebration of the 80th Anniversary of the formation of the Vintage Motor Cycle Club.

(We hope to see many of you on the road, during the year, in support, as our Founder would have wished).

Our annual Pre-31 Run will again include Girder Fork machines, with the same very successful format as previous years.

The date is confirmed as Sunday 11th October 2026. Starting from Fendick's Fishery / Hubble's Cafe' 10:00 for 10:30am (Hubble's Cafe' will be open from 09:00am, for those desiring breakfast before setting off!) A run of approx. 60 miles in total, with a lunch stop at The Cressingham Windmill Inn, Nr. Swaffham, Norfolk, and a return route to Hubble's Cafe, for Tea and Cake.

Worthy of a mention...

Our Congratulations go to member Carlos Vieira, winning the John Abraham Memorial Run riding his 1925 AJS, taking part in the annual Anglian Section event. Well Done Carlos!

Well done John Walden, for entering his first Pioneer Run, albeit on a borrowed 1914 Premier machine. The run being organised by the Sunbeam MCC, catering for machines manufactured before 1915. The Pioneer Plus Run caters for later machines, up to 1930.

John did finish, but not without running out of fuel (running on a very rich setting) with approximately four miles to go: trusting machine owner Simon, was on hand to help out. John had remarked; " this was by far the most fun I've had on two wheels" John and friends had a most enjoyable day, taking part in this annual event, with all arriving at the finish.

The date for this years 'Founders Day', at Stanford Hall, is confirmed as Sunday 19th July 2026.

A great day out...with something for everyone!
